Washing my Avion
Just got back from our maiden voyage, and had a great experience not withstanding having to leave the campground to go visiting. We drove through 250 miles of rain to get there thus accumulating the road grime etc. Since our unit is anodized I’m assuming I can use good quality carwash. I’m thinking a good foam and a microfiber and/or soft none scratching brush. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would use something mild. I’ve used Simple Green HD (purple version made for aluminum) on a few occasions in the past, but I think I’m going to try just using regular Dawn dish soap. I don’t really care for how my trailer looks when using the Simple Green. I think it may be because it’s a little harsh and gets it a little TOO clean, so I end up touching up areas with Penetrol afterward to make it look better. Or maybe the Simple Green is leaving a film that I’m not getting off completely. A lot of people use Simple Green, but I haven’t been that impressed with it.

In general, I would stay away from car washes or pressure washers. I say “in general” because they can be used if you are careful. IF you can remember to NOT get too close, and to NOT spray directly into seams and window openings, you can get good results.
My preference is a 5-gallon bucket, some car washing liquid, and one of those telescoping RV washing brushes, or that same combination of bucket and soap with a soft rag and a ladder. Ultimately, I have always believed that nothing beats a good washing by hand.

I don’t know if I’m posting a reply correctly for multiple people so...Ky Avion and Razorback...my exterior is like new so I had already been kicking around getting a foam canon for washing my truck so it doesn’t take all day and cripple my going on 63 year old assembly line abused body worse than it already is. Rinse off what will rinse and then good quality carwash soap foam. Soft brush or mitt, where needed then rinse. If electric pressure washer is used, weak setting stand back and don’t harass seams, widows, vents, etc.

I hadn’t seen a foam canon before. Looks interesting. Is there one you’d recommend?

I haven’t purchased one yet, but YouTube has all kinds of demos of different ones. Just type in foam cannon and enough video to watch nonstop all weekend.
