Brake Controller Issues

Post by MNash56 »

I have a 2011 F150 with factory brake control. Pulling a 1970 Suntrail Sport. When I first hook up the trailer all seems fine. Display screen in the dash recognizes the trailer and displays output to the brakes as I step on them. As I start driving I get a warning chime and a message "Trailer Disconnected".

When I step on the brake I get a chime and the message "Trailer Connected". And so it continues as I drive.

Brakes are working fine. Controller is operating as expected in terms of increasing/decreasing output to the brakes.

What do we think? Bad ground?

As clarification, "And so it continues as I drive" means that the trailer is constantly being recognized and not recognized as I drive and brake.

Looks like plenty of chatter on airstream forum on this. I've got a laundry list of things to try.

Sorry, I don’t have any experience with that..... my truck is a 1995, so not that high-tech.

Please let us know what you find.
