Hey Gary,

You’re in north Texas?
I peruse the classifieds daily and there are a couple nice Avions (or were) on austin craigslist quite often. If I’m home (travel for work) and you spot something around Austin, I’d be happy to go inspect it for you.

I’ve bought 3 trailers off craigslist and a mountain of photography gear, however, I found my Avion through RV Trader after an “Avion for sale” google search.... 978 miles away.

Gary,

Here’s one from Dallas craigslist: https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/rvs/d ... 31793.html
Unfortunate dent in the end cap but a nice size and layout, almost my exact trailer. I’m in dallas for several days working but I could probably take some time this weekend to look at it with you if you’d like.

That looks pretty dang neat.
Hopefully they still have the window where the AC unit is.

Yup, the seller has the window. I almost pulled the trigger on this one but the seller would not budge from CASH ONLY. No regrets though - tried everything I could think of; even holding the trailer until the cashiers check cleared.

How far is it from you? That is a nice looking trailer. What about doing cash exchange at DMV while title is being notarized?

It's about a 5 hour drive. The vibe I'm getting is a good one and I should move on it? Getting CASH is the challenge. I bank at a Credit Union and they're part of a C/U network that allows me to 'branch' bank on the network. Very few C/U's deal with cash. I suppose I could check locally here in Vegas how best to go about it.

For that matter, I could also check with a casino - cash is their business and there's no shortage of them here.

At only 5 hours away I'd definitely drive to check it out. I'd look at the dings in the body to see if they look worse in person, look underneath at the axles, bellypan, etc, and pop open those exterior compartments and poke around at the underside of the floor for soft spots. IMO a few soft spots here or there aren't the end of the world, but it's indicative of an old leak, or possible current one. Or could also be termites, carpenter ants, etc. Not a deal breaker depending on severity, but may be something to negotiate the price down. Look at the age of the water heater, rooftop A/C, fridge, furnace, etc., each of which may be potential bargaining points.

It'd be nice if the price was lower, but at that length and age of unit (with real wood interior), that price could be more than fair. Compared to an Airstream of that age, length, and condition, it's a steal.
