You are in the same dilemma. I suggest you call Chevy Tech Support (866-694-6549) and describe your situation. You need data to understand your 10-year-old vehicle's true capability and limitations. Hybrids can be expensive to fix, especiallly if the propulsion system craps out in the desert or mountains.

Somewhat disappointed but.....talked with Chevy tech support (Bob, your number was slightly off. suspect you typed the 9 when you meant 6 Corrected number is 866-694-6546 no big deal) and found the fully loaded tow capacity is, in fact, 6200. Which means that with a 20% cushion, I'm looking at 5000lbs. Also found that WD hitches have no impact on tow capacities except for negating the need to worry about tongue weights. Sway control helps with drive-ability.

The search will continue. Anyone know of a comprehensive list of Avion trailer weights and/or configuration diagrams? Found a few brochures in this forum (very helpful) but not much on weights.

Yes, the WD moves some of the tongue weight from the rear axle to the front axle, but doesn't affect overall tow capacity.

The 25H is just shy of 5,000lbs, so unloaded it's already at your limit if you go by that 80% rule.

If you are on mostly flats, I wouldn't be too concerned about that 80% rule.
