Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
Re: Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
Thanks, Ian.
This search of mine is just an exercise...... In all of the searching I have done via the internet, I have yet to find the stock replacement that Cayo has for the mid beltline. Made me curious where he gets his? And made me curious if there was anything else that would work, and the cost comparison. Might be a futile search?

I sent some measurements to Taco.... received this:
“We will send samples of V12-4144 and V12-0338.”

Re: Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
Thursday in the mail I received a couple of pieces of the V12-0338 from Pier Supply, a vendor for Taco Marine. For whatever reason, they could not get a sample of the V12-9787, which has a more rounded profile as opposed to the pointy profile of the V12-0338.
I warmed up the sample to make it easier to flex into the rail, and the results are OK, but not ideal in my book.
The outer edge clips nicely into the rail, but the inner edge does not touch the inner part of the rail. My concern is: once the insert is in place, if enough pressure is put on the insert, that outer edge will come dislodged and pushed in towards the body of the trailer. Then.... how would you get it back in place? The only thing I can think of to keep that from happening would be to add something behind the insert to fill the void. So...... strike one.

Re: Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
Worthy try, but I agree the rounded profile would look better. Too bad they couldn’t provide a sample of it.
Have you looked into these before?

I have seen that kind of insert at local RV shops. They didn't seem to want to shape nicely in the rails of our Avions. But, I'm always open to suggestions! Have you had any luck with any of those? The only one I could see as a possibility would be the 1" stuff.KYAvion wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 2:50 pm Worthy try, but I agree the rounded profile would look better. I have responded to Pier Supply with the same info I posted here. I also asked them if they have a sample of V12-4144 that they could send.

I haven’t tried any yet. I’ll give them a call next week and see if they can send a sample as well.

Re: Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
I received almost a foot of V12-4144. Ran outside real quick to see if it fit before I had to go to work. The tabs on the back of the insert fit nicely in the rail, and the edge of the insert overlaps the rail just slightly.
When it warms up a bit, I am going to see if I can flex the insert enough to get the entire insert inside the rail..... that’ll be for another day..... but I really like the feel of this insert.

Getting closer. I’ve got samples coming from ODMRV as well.

Re: Rub rail/Beltline insert..... sources?
Finally got home from a long night at work..... it is kind of mild here today so I went out to the Avion:
The insert is pliable enough to see that the entire insert can be fitted into the trim! On a hot day, the job would be a piece of cake!
From what I saw on the web, Pier Supply, who has been extremely helpful in this hunt, has the best price by far for the 70’ length.... $95-$100, if I remember correctly. If I just knew how much Mr. Cayo charges for what he has......
