Mini Split air conditioner

I am considering the following and would like some comments.

Pull existing air conditioner and put a top end Fan-Tastic Vent fan in the hole.

Install a 12,000 BTU mini split air conditioner on the tongue and put the inside unit on the cabinets where the radio , etc are.

Move the batteries to under the bed and close to the breaker box.

Best regards,

Russ

Just curious what the advantages would be vs keeping existing AC and installing fantastic fans or max airs in the other vents?

The air conditioner has failed or at least I think it has. No blowing cold.

The fan was to fill the hole and move some air.

Russ

Sorry, I should have been more clear. What do you anticipate the benefits of a system mounted on the tongue vs a working rooftop AC would be?

BTW, I think the fantastic/Max air fans are great. I've got two--one in the front and one in the rear.

The mini splits are extremely quiet. No inside noise.

They are also very efficient in using very few watts to start or operate.

They will run without effort on a Honda 2000 or 800 or 900 watts of solar.

Best regards,

Russ

The low noise factor would be a bonus. How would you handle the ducting to get good airflow front to back?

Thanks for the link. I had read it some time ago. The Air Stream guys seem to be wanting to throw more money than usual at this change in system.

I have seen videos of two systems and write ups of several more that use household systems. The cost is good for air conditioning and the heat pump function. One system has been on the road for two years in a custom built cargo van with no problems.

I think a fan would move all the cold air needed. When I use my Blue Flame in the winter, the heat moves very well on its own.

Best regards,

Russ

I installed a 12,000btu mini-split AC/HEAT PUMP in my '68 A 25th this spring. We were out 4 times this summer and two of those were in 95+ heat with high humidity. Worked better than I expected. And no noise.
