Looking for ideas/inspiration for rear bedroom redo 34W

Post by BimmerRacer »

Has anyone been able to fit a larger mattress (e.g. a queen) in the rear bedroom of a 34W? Being away from the trailer in the winter had me thinking we can orient the bed with the head against the back wall but that doesn't seem like it would work given a giant water heater under where the head of the bed is now, which is the driver side.

Check out the 34X floor plan with queen bed option. It appears the partition extends roughly 2ft deeper toward the front of the cabin to satisfy the length of the bed.

We have a 30-P with rear bath and 2 single beds, one on each side of a center aisle. Yes, my wife and I can't snuggle like the king bed in our home. But we are only an arm's length away. After nearly 49 years of marriage, we can deal with it.

I pushed our two factory twin beds together and laid a queen size topper on them. As you described, our water heater is also on the driver’s side, which can still be accessed if needed.

Yea, I saw your post from earlier. So sounds like you have a platform on the water heater side which extends past the actual mattress? So you have walk around room on that side? I think 34w doesn't have the same depth for the bedroom as 30r/34x where the beds were front to back vs sideways.

I am considering taking out one of the cabinets on the passenger side to gain some room to walk around when entering/exiting the bedroom area.

You can’t walk around either side. I don’t have a great pic, but hopefully these give you the general idea.

It’d be nice to have room to walk around, but honestly getting in and out this way isn’t bad. I had also played around with the bed being perpendicular, but then one person is potentially stuck climbing out over the other.

Is your water heater sitting on a drain pan?
