Anyone went this route, since rv fridge is barely sufficient in south Alabama summer heat. Or are the newer 2/3 way fridges more efficient. My current Dometic model RM2812.2R keeps food frozen in the freezer section, but the fridge section is struggling, thus food going bad prematurely. Also I need a drip tray for this unit, part number 2007610013 or 2007610005 as per Dometic customer service. I’m just looking for some solutions to problems encountered as we full time in our Avion

I have installed a 10 Cu ft. residential in my trailer, an '87 34V. For me, it was easy as I had made some modifications previously that lent itself to ease of installation.
To begin with, my refrigerator opening is 24", so that helped. Second, I had previously relocated and redesigned the control panel, so the area above the refrigerator was relatively clear - which made removing/redesigning the shelf above the refrigerator far less hassle.
A few things to consider. If you're going to a residential or 12 VDC refrigerator, you'll want to close off the vent opening over the refrigerator and likely redesign the access panel at the rear of the refrigerator. You may wish to keep access there, dealers choice.
If your refrigerator fills that cavity completely, you might want to install some fans in the redesigned shelf area to promote airflow.
The 10 cu ft fridge that I have installed extends 4 inches into the passageway, requiring a shelf beneath the fridge for support.
I used the front leveler mounting holes as through bolt mounts to secure the fridge at the bottom front and an interference bar across the top rear to prevent unwanted up/down/side-to-side motion while traveling.
