New 1971 Explorer 22 owner

Post by Silas Kyler »

Just purchased a 1971 Explorer 22 for our family. We are super excited! It seems to be in great shape inside and out, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as things come up.

I've had a hard time finding much information on the Avion Explorer campers. It seems they only made them a couple years and maybe there aren't that many out there. Does anyone know anything about these models?

Hi, Silas! Welcome to the forum! Thank you for joining us, and congratulations on your new Avion! It really does look great for it’s age.... somebody, or several somebody’s took good care of that one.

I will have to look in the documentation section and see if we have a 1971 brochure. If so, I will be curious to see what it says.

Sure enough, the 1971 brochure shows the Explorer, but not much else.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I was able to find the original brochure but not much else. That’s okay, it’s a great trailer and I really love the layout!

The first thing I’m looking to do is add an extra bed via a bunk to accommodate my whole family (we have 3 young kids).

Somewhere in the past I remember seeing a picture of a bunk setup that was an Avion factory option. I remember it being a very simple design. I will look for that picture.

Nice work. Perfect for a trampoline!
