New to me 1986 30P

Post by Nelsonpharmd »

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself and our new (to us) 1986 30P. Currently living in central Florida and drove down to the Miami area last weekend to pick up our new camper for $5k. Thanks to Rocky on the Avion Travel Trailer Owners FB page who responded to my query for someone selling a camper in Florida. Ended up working out pretty well.

Drove her back over the course of 3 hours with a little bit of sway here and there. We drive a 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel, but I wasn't using any sway control or weight distribution so I'm sure that was at least part of it (not to mention the suspension looks like it'll need redoing in the near future. Here are some pictures of her nestled in her now home on our 2.5 acres. Out of the rain and sun, and ready for some rehabing. Someone REALLY liked green and orange. Can't wait to get a new layer of interior paint. Has that typical "old" smell and Rocky did mention he repaired some backend rot, but as you'll see in a future post on the right subforum, there may be a little bit more hanging around back there. The rear frame has certainly suffered because of it.

Anyway, nice to be part of this group and here's hoping to lots of learning and maybe even meeting some of you at future rallies.

Nelson

Hi, Nelson! DIG THOSE COLORS!!!!

Congratulations on your Avion, and I look forward to following the progress.

I really like the cover it is parked under. Exactly what I want to make mine look like, sooner than later.

Thanks Paul! The colors, the colors, the colors LOL. We're all about colors, but in person it makes the inside really dark so we may end up painting it white (or maybe a light gray). As for the covering, thanks! I actually found a guy on FB that builds them. Literally took them about a day and half. We'll see how it holds up to our hurricanes (yikes!).
