Rebuilding Windows

Post by leighlandon »

Currently Rebuilding the windows, what are these rivets called that hold the jalousie window tracks together. Most are good some need to be replaced. Trying to order replacements but can’t quite find what I need.

I’m surprised the folks here haven’t tackled this one. That’s ok no worries!

Howdy,

What makes you think some of the rivets need to be replaced?
Are they broken or just rusty? I’d try to clean and lubricate before replacing if possible.

I believe the rivets you are referring to are “semi-tubular” rivets that need to be bucked. However, you’ll need a specific head for each different head profile.

Hi Ian,

Yes they have been cleaning up nicely. I am only on window 2 but was curious just in case.

Thank you!

I really like Corrosion X for rust abatement, lubrication and it’s penetrating properties. The operators on my airstream make yours look new by comparison and the couple I’ve gone over with Corrosion X and a dremmel have stayed looking fantastic even though they are exposed to the elements.
