Replacing exterior vinyl with Vintage Trailer Supply Product
Replacing exterior vinyl with Vintage Trailer Supply Product
We own a 1970 T-28 and the orange vinyl molding needs to be replaced. Vintage Trailer Supply has a product that is made for Air Stream but is very close to the Avion measurements. Curious of anyone has tried the Vintage Trailer Supply product and how well it worked.
Re: Replacing exterior vinyl with Vintage Trailer Supply Product
Hi Brad,
Are you talking about the belt line trim molding?
I believe either inland RV or out of doors mart sells the orange version. I know Chuck Cayo of Cayo RV has the mid belt line in black for .80¢ a foot as I talked to him yesterday for a trailer I’m working on. The bottom trim is easier to find at AutoZone and the like (also in black).
Wasn’t it Becky B who had a thread here about the orange trim?

Hi Ian
I appreciate your responses. Yeah I spoke with Chuck the other day and ordered the vinyl insert for the lower trim. It’s right around an inch and only in black. He told me he doesn’t have a supplier for the thinner mod-line stuff. I purchased some 3/4” vinyl insert off Amazon. Going to see how it works.

Re: Replacing exterior vinyl with Vintage Trailer Supply Product
Morning,
On my ‘78 the mid belt line insert is actually wider than the bottom and the only vendor I could find is Chuck for the black version.
I didn’t realize a ‘70 would be that different. Would you mind posting some pictures of the moulding? It may help someone else down the road...

Ok so here is what I did. I purchased some RV Vinyl Insert Trim that I purchased off Amazon. (RV Designer E532, Narrow Vinyl Insert Trim, 3/4 inch Wide). Fits like a glove and looks amazing. Was super easy to install. We will see how it holds up. Looks better than the old dried up 50 year old orange vinyl that was there. I’ll take more tomorrow when it’s light.

Yes, very nice! I like the black much better than orange. Makes me wonder who originally thought orange would look good with silver? But, then again, it was the 70's..... I'm surprised the insert wasn't avocado green!

Ok here are some more pictures in the daylight. I’m not a purist by any stretch. I have replaced the tail and clearance lights with LED’s. I am going to leave the orange logos as is though. Just waiting on my shipment from Cayo for the wider bottom trim now
