Hi Folks.

I’ve just picked up my Avion yesterday and started to clear things out to prep for something of a rebuild.

Enclosed is the current state if disrepair.

Think of all the great titles you be able to claim at the end of this project. Architect, engineer, cabinet maker, Metallurgist, electrician, plumber .........

Yes, this will undoubtedly require lots of different skills.

I was able to strip out about 75% of the interior today. Those screws are a royal pain to remove, especially the rusty ones.
I bought a set of clutch bits and it works well on the majority of screws but areas that had water damage were super difficult.

I still need to figure out how to remove both cabinet areas (fridge/furnace as well as the sink) before I can pull up the sub floor and lay and entire new one down.

I feel your pain with the screws. I went back with stainless wherever I could.

Once you pull the appliances out, the cabinet screws are pretty much exposed.

OK, finally got some time to work in the demolition.

I originally considered keeping the tall storage cabinets but there was just no way to get it all out cleanly considering how difficult it was to get some of those screws out.

I’m pretty happy with the progress. I’m going to stary tearing the sub floor out from front to back and replace with fresh plywood and foam board.

That is a great start..... you’ve put in a lot of effort getting to this point! It’ll all be worth it!

On that kind of stuff, I have to keep encouraging myself to do everything correctly, don’t cut corners..... do it all right the first time, then you KNOW it’s done right! Then you don’t have to worry about it ever again!

Thanks guys. I certainly appreciate the encouragement.

Can anyone confirm how the Avion skins are attached to the frame?

I remember reading that the skin is not attached to the sub floor (i.e. i can tear out the sub floor without the walls collapsing on me) but I’d like to be sure.

The only area that looks like it goes under the skin is at the second floor section where it goes under the lip of the doorway.
