Finally saw another Avion on the road!

Post by Razorback »

Today we finished our 6th season of traveling and camping with our Avion. In all that time, I have never seen another Avion on the road! On the way home today, on I-49 south of Joplin, MO (maybe around Neosho??) we saw an Avion truck camper on the back of a Dodge truck! It was heading north towards Joplin. Very distinctive shape...... I spotted it quite a ways off.

I didn't get a good enough look at it to tell if it was a C10, or a C11.

Pics or it didn't happen :D

I saw an Avion parked in the driveway of a house in our neighborhood. I was driving with my daughter. I turned around, knocked on the door and said I'm a fellow Avion owner. The very friendly gentleman gave me a tour of his 30P Avion and we chatted about the changes we have made to our Avions for a long while!

I wish I had been able to get a picture.

Like you, I have seen a total of 3 Avions in people's yards...... 34-footers....none were in very good shape, just judging them from my vantage point.

In thinking of this thread, I remembered an early-70’s Avion I saw going through Bella Vista, AR while I was working.

But that truck camper was the first I’ve seen while I was towing our Avion.

I have seen two others. One was a nice older one for sale in a close by town. the other was a distance off, looked like a semi-permanent set up.

Now that I'm noticing them, I'm curious to see if we se more!

my sister in law told us she saw an avion on the road between Deming and Las Cruces. she said she took a pic, but hasn't sent it to me yet. She also said it looked great and very steady going down the road on a windy day.

I see a half-dozen per year.

When everyone went broke in ‘08 the sales market withered and disappeared by 2012. Most bought for housing.

Took RVers awhile to get there but by 2007 CL had 10-20 listings nationally on a daily basis. Most from April thru August.

If you want to see more you need to be on the right highways. All roads funnel to a big one.

IH40 from OKC to Amarillo is one.

IH75 Tampa to Macon.

IH81 thru the Shenandoah.

Too many choices E-W across Midwest

Don’t know how that pic of my chicken made it in there, but she’s an Avion too, I guess.
