Does anyone have any input on the Cayo four battery fiberglass battery box. I want to replace the two battery box on the new to me trailer.

Did you have any luck finding more info on this? Have you tried asking Chuck Cayo at Cayo Repair?

I've considered moving the batteries on mine inside behind the couch. They're OK on the tongue, but I'm debating the pros and cons of moving them inside.

Yes, I did talk to Chuck. He no longer makes the box and his mold is damaged.

Lynne and I are tossing around the battery location, also. Behind couch or under the door side twin bed. Under the twin is nearly all free space, easy to service, and would be close to the electrical box.

Under the twin would work well too depending on how much you use that area for storage accessed via the exterior compartment door. I seem to keep a lot of stuff in there, including an expandable ladder that takes up about half the space.

Are we talking about a vented battery box or is that not relevant here? Four batterys would be great!

I am thinking four batteries. But, I have not worked out the problem of venting if they are golf cart type.

If they were AGM then venting is no problem, BUT the battery expense becomes a problem. I probably can not afford what I want.

The best location for cable size from inverter/charge to batteries is behind the sofa. There is a removable access panel directly under that location in the belly pan where the connects of the incoming 12 volt cable intersect. You would then have to run the 120 Volt from the inverter under the trailer in a conduit to get to the fuse panel.

We replaced our original Avion box with two from Century plastics and mounted them on the front tongue. Mounting them in the rear is going to shift close to 200 pounds off the tongue to rear of the coach and would have to be compensated for in some way.

I am tossing around the idea of two battery banks. The two batteries on the tongue and two batteries under the twin bed.

The two in front can be 12 volt only, lights, ref, furnace motor if used, water pump.

The two under the twin will be inverted 120 only. Our inverter load will be less than 200 watts so a Morningstar 300 watt suresine will work super.

I am think of splitting the solar wiring so that three 160 panels charge each area.

I have beat this horse to death many, many times and will gladly accept advice or a different point of view.
