I am not a shock expert by any means, but I wouldn't think a "close" automotive shock would be out of the question. Let's see what others might say. (what are you replacing, and what information did you use to find something close?? Just curious.... I don't know much about the older Avions..)

I have the front axle from an old truck in my backyard and had the thought to check the shocks. They were so close to the one on the camper. They are Monroe’s, but no longer made under the same ID number. My local parts store ran a cross reference, showed the number 59001, and had a couple in stock. It was almost identical. I feel pretty lucky.
