79' window glazing and roof seal

Hello everyone,
We finally pulled our 79' 30P to its parking spot so we can start working on it.

The first thing we want to work on is the roof which looks like it had some kind of rubber applied to the seams. We hope to clean that off and use silver eternabond tape. I have seen a lot of recommendations for plastic scrapers and heat guns but can someone recommend a cleaner to use before the tape? Dish soap and a sponge?

The second thing we hope to address soon is the window glazing. What is the best source for this? And do you know a part number?

The Roof:
Once you have removed all the offending goo from the roof, wash the seams (or the entire roof, depending on you level of motivation) with simple green and let dry in the sun for a half an hour or so - just to be certain that there isn't anything left under seam edges or rivets. Then apply the Alumibond.
If you don't feel that that is sufficient, then wipe the areas that you're going to apply tape to with Xylol and then apply the tape.
The use of a roller is highly recommended when applying the tape

X2 on Salty's recommendations. I used Simple Green in a bucket with water, a good bristle brush, and some elbow grease. Seemed to work good.

Ahh the bucket and water is a better idea than me up there with a spray bottle. Thanks!


What is the best place to by the aluminum eternabond?

Took a stab at the window glazing today. It didn't go well. We really had difficulty getting it to seat and it actually bowed in 1 corner.

We wernt using a heat gun and I'm wondering if anyone thinks that would make a significant difference.

Also. The bead I ordered is slightly different, with bigger "swoop". Should I keep looking to find something closer to what is in it?

Working on the window glazing as well. Using H009-344 from Pelland Enterprises and it’s working great on all windows except the curved glass on the front and rear of the 1987 34x. It is a different glaze. Not sure if that is your problem too. Minor 8524-03 looks close but not confident it is the right glazing.
