new spare tire

Post by zoomjay »

Another question for my 1970 Ultra 26....

Any recommendations on a new spare tire? Tire size I can easily read - more concerned about a new rim (offset, bolt pattern, etc).

Believe it or not, I still have to original, split rim spare time on her - with the original rubber. I will probably keep it for sentimental reasons although do not think it will be usable in an emergency...

Thanks

On my ‘78, it has 15” wheels with a 6-5.5” bolt pattern.
In fact, I just put on a new set that matched my old set (discovered a wheel with wallowed out lug holes, couldn’t find just one wheel but found a set of four) and am putting 2 wheels up for sale. I’m keeping one as a spare and not sure what to do about the wallowed out one...

If these happen to match yours (or anyone else’s) they are up for grabs...

I just replaced my spare with one. The rubber looks good but is dated 2013, good enough for a spare I guess and it matches which is a plus. Are these the same wheels as yours?

Mine has the original steel wheels and hubcaps. With that said... a spare can be most anything as long as it fits in the wheel well when/if needed.

Thus, I am not picky on the spare. I do, though, suspect that the current, circa 1970, bias ply tire on a split rim will not work well (dry rot and all!!).

Ah, yes... I should have re-read your post.

I have the original spare from my trailer, nothing special, just a standard black steel wheel.

It would probably cost more to ship than getting one new.
