New Avion owner 7/25/2020

Post by wayne.gale »

Hello everyone and thanks for letting me in.

1985 Avalon 30-R
TV - 2008 Chevy K-2500HD Duramax, 6 sp Allison GVW 9200, Max Trailer Weight 14,400, GCWR 22,000, Rear Axle 3.73, HD Trailering Equipment and Brake Controller

Update: 8/20/2020. Had a change of plans. My offer and the seller's acceptance on the '86 Silver Edition 34-W went sideways due to seller's dishonesty so I backed out. I missed out by one hour on 34-V' two weeks later but kept looking. I connected with a wonderful couple in Arkansas and purchased their 1985 30 -R. Picked it up last Saturday 8/15/2020. I had my heart broken twice but now I've found the love of my life.

In need of pdfs of owner's manual, electrical schematic and plumbing schematic. (I've found everything I need by searching this forum.)

I've researched many vintage motor homes and TTs over the past 3 years before pulling the trigger on this one. I searched this forum while making my decision and your posts were much appreciated. Now I am an Avion owner and proud member of this community. Thanks for having me.

Welcome, wayne.gale! We are glad to have you here.

Thank you for the detailed intro...... add some pictures when you can.

The only thing that would be considered close to schematics would be found in the Owners Manual. Look in the Documentation section...... if you have trouble finding it, let us know.

Looking forward to following your adventure!

Razorback,

The seller said she didn't think she had the manuals. I asked her to look for them and any other documentation she has. It does have a clean Missouri title (I live in SW Missouri). Until just recently, it was being lived in by a farm hand so all was functional. No sign of mice. But my tech and electrical background tells me to be prepared for some failures. - Thanks!

Look at the plumbing, if it's gray plastic I'd highly recommend replacing all of it with PEX and installing valve's at the sinks and toilet. Don't know when they stopped using that awful stuff but my '84 Avion had it and I replaced it right away.
After owning three campers with it I wasn't going to go through it again. All three of those campers sprang leaks. Pulling the old stuff out several of the elbows snapped apart. The valves came in handy because when I turned the water on the toilet and kitchen sink leaked. It's nice to be able to isolate a leak and still have water in other places, rather than shut the whole system off untill you get it fixed.

Bobbyz, I read about pex and will go that way when I get to the plumbing. I install shut off valves on everything in my house, I wouldn't have it any other way for my new-to-me home on wheels. Thanks!

Paul, I figured you were in Arkansas. Razorback was a pretty good hint. :) Hello to my fellow Ozarkian. I live in Springfield. I haven't checked the documentation section yet but heading there now. Thanks!
