Rear baggage door replacement

Post by BCBrad »

Have a 1970 T-28. Rear baggage door is missing. PO has a crappy looking piece of particle board cut to size. I am thinking about having a custom door with frame built by RecPro. Curious if anyone here has tried that. Means I have to drill out all the rivets.

Hey Brad,

I really thought I replied to your question but I guess I’m a moron.

I highly suggest you build out the door yourself and leave the framing as is. Depending on your location you can easily get some .040 anodized aluminum and C-channel to build this. Add some aluminum piano hinge and some good grade 3/4” ply and your good to go.

The best way I’ve found to cut right angle aluminum shapes is with a utility knife and a straight edge. A couple passes and it snaps apart like drywall.

This is a truly easy build. Please contact me via the PM function and I’ll gladly guide you through it.
