1971 T-28 Straight Axle Swap?

Post by Harrison22! »

Hello,

I am in the process of restoring a 1971 T28 with the classic morryde suspension set up with drop axles. Chuck is out of office until 17 Feb, but I wanted to see if anyone has replaced the drop axles with straight axles?

I am an avid outdoorsman and will be taking the trailer off road out west. With a updated to a Dexter straight axle I would have a little more ground clearance. They seem to tow like a dream in my short experience but raising it a few inches I wouldn't expect to make a lot of difference?

If I bought new axles I have never seen any come with the tongues that attach to the frame or in my case both run towards the middle and bolt on there (see image). Most Avions I have seen have the front axle tongue facing forward.

Any help would be great. Thank you!
