Avion Newbie

I appreciate the knowledge that many on this forum have. I have been in the market for a classic travel trailer for some time and my search has primarily been focused on Airstreams but I have kept an eye on various Avion's. After physically looking at a few trailers I have come across and purchased a 1976 Legrande.

Thus far I have been impressed. After purchasing the trailer last week we spent two days over the past weekend beginning the restoration. Day one was was spent scrubbing the exterior and I had an old set of wheels I felt would be a good match. For curiosity sake I tested them to check fitment and really liked both the look and fit. I'll include pics. Day two, with the help of my wife, father, and son, we carefully removed all of the interior minus the rear bathroom. I wanted to get the interior out of the way and check the subfloor. I knew there were issues in the front that had been addressed by the previous owner and issues around the door and bathroom that will need to be corrected. Perhaps this weekend I can get address removing the rear bath?

The trailer has an interesting history. Include in the sale was a large amount of paper work from the two previous owners. The trailer was originally sold in Pinellas Florida to a couple who lived in NY. The original owners sold the trailer sometime in the early 80's to a family in Indiana. The couple in Indiana owned the trailer until the early 2000's. After two other interesting transactions I have the trailer now. I am learning the history behind vintage trailers is full of interesting characteristics.

Anyway I wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to all who contribute. I will try and be diligent to post and contribute as I lean more about these trailers.

Thus far I have learned that the screws used to hold the interior together are odd. A new number one square head bit will work until worn and then there one shot to use a number two and then one has to be carefully creative!

I am anticipating using the Avion to do some longer travel with my family. Our plan for purchasing an older trailer has always included a significant rebuild as to add bunk space for our children and potentially their cousins. Appreciate the welcome
