I am with you on the thought of modifying the fixture to work on 12VDC.... with our handyman skills, I bet we could make it work. I wish that company would make a drop-in 12VDC model.... that would be nice. I wonder if they have ever considered that?

I might send them an email....

I made a mold and am making copies. First draft in the pics below. It has bubbles in it so not usable, but proves the mold is good. Will use an orbital sander to get the bubble out on the next one with updated results.

Jeff, that is too cool! I’d love to see how you do that.

You will be helping a lot of folks if you can be a source for new lenses.

I am hoping to get the quality of these high enough I am proud to offer them. It has been about $100 effort so far, after screwing up a couple molds trying to get it right.

And my latest attempt at getting the bubbles out looks like it's not working either, so planning to pick up a pressure pot from Harbor Freight today and expect that will have much better results.

There seem to be enough parts not available anymore (or only available through Cayo) it's a worthwhile skill to have and offer them here. Not sure if there are other plastic components like this that people would like to see again... I'm not quite ready to graduate to making the rock guards yet!

Making progress, see latest without bubbles below. Had to buy a pressure pot and retrofit it for a compressor so can get the bubbles out by storing the piece at 60 PSI for 4-6 hours.

Having some challenges with curing, but wanted to provide an update. Old to new from left to right.

I'm really enjoying this thread. It would be neat if you could do a video on the process and post it in YouTube.

That’s really amazing. A video would be cool to see, or even some photos documenting the process.

Thanks for the nice responses.

I will shoot some photos this weekend with high level steps I used. I am replacing my three lenses this weekend and want them to sit for a week to make sure they perform well in the heat before offering them. There is not any reason they should have a problem, but want to confirm since this resin stuff is new to me.

For the record I made about 10 bad ones before I figured out all the little tweaks and nuances for this specific piece...and about half of those were just me being a newb in mold making.

I'm pretty invested in mold making now so will start a separate thread about what other pieces people would like to see available again.
