POR-15 antirust
POR-15 antirust
Here are a couple of photos of (3 coats of) POR-15 applied to the wheel well area, axles, springs, and stabilizer bars. Need to snap photos of Aframe and the rear bumper as well. Will post them afterwards.
Side question, looking at the wheel well, can anyone think of replacement shocks? A couple of shops I took my Avion to could not find any that would match those. My Avion is a 1978 26 footer, 2 shocks per wheel. Thanks!

Hmm, I'm thinking this post may be better suited to the Running Gear folder. I would appreciate it if one of the mods could kindly move it there. Thanks!

Re: POR-15 antirust
Moved, per request.
I'll have to look around and see if I can find shock info for your year of Avion.
Chuck Cayo would be a good person to ask.... (269) 463-5068. He is a member here (CayoRV). Maybe he'll see this here.... not sure how often he can check the forum.

Re: shocks...
I found this thread on AirForums. The same Maeco 610483 was mentioned on a Silver Streak:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f417/si ... 34575.html
His research resulted in Monroe 555031:
http://www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog/555031/
He mentions that on his Silver Streak, a rubber bushing needed to be pressed into the lower eye on the new shock to accommodate the smaller lower bolt on his trailer.
Obviously, you might need to purchase one shock, then see how well it fits your Avion.
I'd still hope for some 1st-hand info from Chuck Cayo.
Hopefully this gets you a little closer to a solution.

Re: POR-15 antirust
That POR15 really covers well. Is that a grey/silver color?

Re: POR-15 antirust
Paul, thanks for the shocks info. Very useful. I'll probably order one in Spring and see if it fits. If yes, I'll get another 3. Visually, the shock looks to be a match. I'll probably also measure the length of the existing shock and compare it to specs of the shock you cited. I once asked Chuck Cayo about shocks on my Avion, and he did not know the part number off the top of his head.
