Greetings! First time Avion owners: 1981 34v

Post by Johnatron »

Hello, I’m Johnathan and my wife is Alex, we decided to buy a RV! And we thought, “not just any RV” but one that is figuratively and literally, timeless(given the renovations, of course). So here we are! Great to be part of the Avión familia!

A little past, present, and future info...

We’re located in McAllen, TX. Originally from Austin and San Antonio. Tired of renting these money pits of apartments, so we are looking forward to living in the land plane full time, come August 2019. I have a background in house construction and auto mechanics, so I’ll be doing all of the repairs (with my trusty co-pilot, of course!)
We towed the mothership home last week, 1/9/19, and didn’t waste time getting to work. We have big dreams for this beauty, but first things first, getting her cleaned, dried in, and solid floors.

Congratulations and welcome to the Avion family. You made a good decision in an Avion. I’m just down the road in Sunset Valley (Austin).

If and when you have any questions this is a great community of knowledgeable folks.

Hi Ian!
Thank you for the warm welcome. We’re pretty stoked to be here!
Sunset Valley is beautiful, plenty of Green Belt. I was raised in Dripping Springs (class of ‘01) Moved to Oak Hill, then all around Austin.
I imagine that I’ll have plenty of inquiries, so, I’m extremely grateful for any and all input.

Welcome, and congratulations on your move to an Avion!

You found what is a fairly rare floor plan.... the 34V with a rear bath and middle double bed. That arrangement is my favorite, but was not presenting itself in the for sale ads when we were looking ..... that’s why we have our 1987 34W.

Keep us posted with your progress!

Hey Razorback!

Thank you! It’s great to be here. I’m very grateful for this friendly and knowledgeable community.

I feel very lucky to have found this Avion, although ironically enough, I think I like the 34W better. Wanna trade? Hehe

I’m really looking forward to seeing this trailer become the masterpiece it truly is, and will keep you all posted! Cheers!

Hi, Tron!

If I had not put so much blood. sweat, and tears into this 34W, I might take you up on that offer! I love our 34W, but I think my wife would like the roominess of the rear bath. Luckily, she and I are very average size, so the smaller bath and the rest of the trailer "fit" well. I am not positive of exactly how much closet space there is comparing the 34V and 34W...... all I know for sure is that the 34W has a TON of it! That comes in handy. I think the 34V, if not equal, is at least VERY close.

You will not regret your choice of an Avion!

Greeting and Welcome!
I'm converting my 34V into the same arrangement you have - mid double bed and dresser opposite.
Good luck with your project!

Thanks Salty!

It’s great to be here. Awesome that you got a 34v as well! Are you planning to keep it original or go creative?
Best wishes on your journey!

Fair enough, Razorback! I’m diving into this labor of love. Scraped some knuckles, and bumped my head a few times already. This thing does have an immense amount of storage. It’s insane! The Swedish got nothing on these! Haha
