Exterior Skin etc ...

Post by Salty »

Ordered an repair skin and doors from Cayo for the roadside rear to repair an area where a tire blew in the dim and distant past. Delivery won't be for 4 - 6 weeksImage
Chuck Cayo is a tremendous resource!
Also bought a Sony stereo and a set of Focal speakers to go with

I almost had similar damage on my prior Airstream from a tire. I was amazed that I didn't notice a thing and wouldn't have known if it hadn't been for another driver who waved me down. I now run with a tire pressure monitoring system. LT tires for me too, but that's an entire other can of worms.

and I'm thinking seriously about going to 16's when these tires (brand new, 1100 miles on them) need to be replaced. On the surface, to me it looks like a no brainer to upgrade this way. My rims are not very pretty and I like the idea of not replacing my tires avery 3- 5 , but rather 5 - 7.
Is there a hidden downside to 16s that I don't know about?

I upgraded to 16's when I switched to LT's. Another benefit of 16's in a 225 75 R16 is that a replacememt is easy to find on the road if ever needed. LT's in a 15" are hard to come by.

Downside is having to purchase 5 new rims.

My rims aren't pretty. OK, I find them butt ugly. Normally not a fan of bling, but those rims just look wrong. Even dressed up with trim rings I'd say they look wrong.
