A/C Gasket Replacement

Post by Becky B. »

I changed out the gasket on my 1988 32S. Relatively simple procedure....remove interior plastic & metal cover from unit, along with the exterior cover. Remove 4 long bolts from interior. Unplug wire harness...the top should now be free! I propped my top of the unit on a heavy tupperware tub. Clean up the top of the trailer & seal everything that sits under the a/c. I applied Tempro on the seams along with Eternabond. I sealed the rivets with Captain Tolleys. Then clean off the old gasket from the a/c unit. Apply new gasket & set into place. I have been told that if you turn over your a/c you should let it set for at least 36 hours before running. I heard that after I tipped mine. but it's ok :)

Looks great, Becky! I actually removed my A/C today as well, but I lifted mine so I could install eternabond tape along that main roof seam.

Hi Becky

This is what I need to do too... my AC is old and dead, I knew this when I bought my trailer. When it rains it has leaked, I have it covered it with a tarp. But I would like to get it off the roof and replaced.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks! If you look closely, you'll see some nice, new eternabond on the seam that goes under the unit. I can't wait for a rain to see if I'm leak-free!
