Electric heat options

Post by Razorback »

I am trying to decide on what to get to provide electric heat when we are in a full hook-ups site (which is most of the time we are out and about).
I have several options in mind:
1) Ceramic heater(s)
2) Something like an EdenPure
3) an oil-filled radiator-looking heater
4) something with a simple electric element
5) a heat strip for the Brisk-Air unit on the ceiling
6) a Kimberly wood stove (obviously not an electric option.... but definitely at the top of my list!)

What have you tried? What would you suggest?

We use the radiator looking oil heater along with a small fan, if needed to circulate the warm air. Works good. We have used the ceramic heaters and they also heat well.

The radiator is stable and has no exposed wires or heat elements as well as a switch to turn off it gets tipped over. Bought ours at Lowes.

I've used both during cold temps (teens) and while I like the way the oil filled radiators function better (radiant instead of convection heat), I've found the ceramic heaters feel warmer to me on those really cold nights. Plus the ceramic heaters don't take up nearly as much space.

Ordered one of these yesterday. Says it is highly rated..... we'll see. Was able to order it for FREE as the result of an atta-boy my boss gave me. I look forward to seeing how well it works. What impressed me the most was the 5-year warranty, AND it is made in the good ol' USA!

Keep us posted on how the Vornado works out. I wonder how it will do compared to a cheaper ceramic heater. Fifteen hundreds watts is 1500 watts, but the Vornado probably does a much better job circulating the heat. The digital thermostat would be a plus too.

Will do. Really looking forward to receiving the Vornado and trying it out.

Also picked up this recently... a Chapin ceramic heater. Not sure how old it is, but it works like a champ! Research on the web says that Chapin makes spraying equipment, and it looks like the heater design went to Pelonis.

The Vornado heater/fan should arrive Thursday. Good timing for a test because Thursday night/Friday morning is supposed to bring single-digit temps. It will be interesting to see how it does.

I'll be in mine this weekend too. Temps in the teens. Glad to have the electric blanket.
