Irma shelter

Post by russedgar »

If you are running from Irma out of Florida, we will offer a place to stop and rest. We are in North Central Ohio. We have room for a couple of Avions and their owners for a few days. We have water and could rig some electric if you need it. There is no cost. Just trying to help other Avion owners

Best regards,

After the fact, thank you. I tried to leave. Went the back roads up the west coast to avoid I75, which was a very fast parking lot or very slow highway (your choice of description). Between towns on US27, we were going 60 and 65. When we came to a town with a traffic light (like Perry), traffic would back up 5 miles out of town and it would take an hour to get through the town. After taking an hour to cross the Appalachicola River and still 3 miles from the west side town, I gave up and turned around. Then when the storm started up the west coast, went to Jacksonville area and holed up behind a shopping center in Green Cove Springs. Had the small awnings out, windows open in the rain, wind blocked by the walls on two sides. Next time, I have found a place in Sanford, Fl with a shopping center on one side and an elevated highway right next to it. The highway is probably 50' high and being tucked in to the back of the Target will block any strong winds. Driving time to this mall is 15 minutes.

Your welcome. The offer is still open for the "next time".
