Gate width

So I'm putting up a gate, which will need to be wide enough for the Avion to be pulled through. I'd prefer to keep it as short as possible, but don't want it to be too tight. Any recommendations on width? Any have experience pulling through a 12 ft gate? Too narrow?

We have a double gate that I use to get our Avion into and out of our back yard. It must be somewhere in the 12' range. No problems whatsoever with whatever it is we have.

I will be pulling our Avion out of the backyard early in the morning..... I will check the width.

Ky -

I have a one rather-robust 10ft wide gate between a fence and concrete porch. The hinge side eats up about 9" of the total gate width; my net width is roughly 9'-3"

It's a rather precision operation to back the trailer through this opening. I use a spotter. I have about 6-8" clearance on each side.

The bigger issue is the width of the mirrors on the truck.

The bottom line: I'm envious of your 12ft wide gate. If two gates, double the hinge width for get net gate width.

So it sounds like a 12 or 14ft gate would be preferred. This is a new install, so I may just go ahead and pick up a 14 ft one. I suppose 16 ft would probably be overkill.

16ft does seem a bit wide. Unless you plan on adding bump-outs to your trailer and pull it through the gate while opened.

Decided on 12ft. As I looked at the different sizes, 12 ft seems plenty wide.
