AVIONtrailers migration complete!

Post by KYAvion » Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:44 pm

The migration of AVIONtrailers.net is now complete.

The good news -- the forum structure and posts were maintained and the forum software was upgraded to the latest version, which appears much better on a mobile phone compared to the prior version. The new software also allows for a lot more flexibility, which should be useful down the road. The site is also being run as a FULL phpbb site (as opposed to the previous modified version) with a "real" host this time, so issues like the takeover by Tapatalk won't happen again.

The bad news -- users who recently created an ID or submitted any posts on Tapatalk will have to register again, as well as repost any topics that were created on Tapatalk. Unfortunately, only members and threads Pre-Tapatalk could be maintained. The other bad news is that image files are lost. This is extremely unfortunate, but they could not be migrated from the prior host or Tapatalk. Fortunately, this is something that won't happen again now that we are a FULL phpbb site, as opposed to a modified phpbb site as we were previously.

Your patience while the site has been down is appreciate. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Any suggestions regarding ideas for improvements to the site? We are getting some traffic, but it seems a lot people post more on Facebook groups.

Not a fan of Facebook or its leader.... I'll leave it at that. Now that the site has settled again, I hope it continues to grow.

I don't BaceFook, so...

I think we should start a thread announcing, or reintroducing this site over on airforums. That way all the folks complaining about not getting gold platted ice trays won't bury any Avion related thread.

I'll do it, if y'all are cool with it.

Feel free to post away, although it may be frowned upon.

I contacted Airforums awhile back about including a link on their page to www.AVIONtrailers.net, but they opted not to since it'd be competition with their Vintage Kin forum.

I also have a redirect to Facebook so any posts here are listed in an AVIONtrailers.net feed there. Not really sure what else to do to increase exposure or make the site more appealing to Avion owners, but I know there's more Avion owners out there than the 195 members we have here.
