Good morning everyone!

We just purchased our 1977 28ft LaGrande yesterday and are so excited to start this new adventure! I'm sure we are gonna need helpful advise along the way since we have never owned a travel trailer before. We will post pics soon!

Welcome Christine and Mark!

Would love to hear more about your Avion.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions here, as there is a small but active community.
Even though I'm on my 3rd vintage travel trailer plus 1 motor home and feel pretty well versed in these things, I've found this forum invaluable in information and experience.

Good morning from Kentucky! Well its been a busy week so far, so needless to say I still have no pics posted yet. They are coming very soon though!

Our Avion is a true gem in our eyes! She's been remodeled by the previous owner and in very good working order, with the except of one the fans that I suddenly can't get to work. But thats ok because more than likely we will install fantastic fans at some point in the near future, that is unless you guys have a better suggestion!? She is completely adorable on the inside! Adorable is great but not exactly our taste, so we are making some changes that have already started. Nothing huge, just mostly some cosmetic things here and there.

Right now we are painting the inside wall space with stainless steel appliance paint to give her that "Airstream" look on the inside (technically it already looks like an Airstream, but I have always been partial to the aluminum wall look). It is kind of a pain in the rear but really looking great! I will definitely post before and after pics when completed.

I will leave the other changes as a surprise as we go to keep the suspense, lol! Well, that's it for now as it's time to head to work!

Peace be with you all!
Christine

Good morning, and thank you for the update!

Although it can be a lot of work, transforming your Avion from "theirs" to "yours" is a fun journey. As you work, there is that anticipation of what it will be, as you are working with what it currently is. Each little or big change that you complete is a tremendous sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. We have ours pretty much how we want it and are enjoying it a LOT, so I know and remember the phase you are in. LOTS of time and effort as you detail this, detail that, clean this, clean that, etc, etc...... All with the goal of making it "ours"! Fun, fun!!! Then, when you can use it and enjoy the changes that you've made, even better!

Am I the only one who occasionally goes into the Avion and just sits and enjoys, imagines and envisions? (and wish it was time to go another place!)

I like the idea of Fantastic Fans. We have one in the front part of our Avion, but still have the original 14" Hammond vents/fans in the bath and rear bedroom. The Hammonds still work fine and we use them regularly, but I do like the Fantastic Fan. Ours has everything except a remote control, which I do not miss having. If our Hammonds ever quit, I will certainly consider replacing them with a Fantastic Fan....... but if I can fix what is there, I'll likely do that.

I look forward to more updates and pictures of your project and progress.

We have nearly completed our very long to do list for our renovations, with only minor little touch ups here and there. Man oh man was it a long of work in a very short amount of time, but we nailed the look we were going for! I'm about to post the Before pics. Like I said, she looks amazing in the before's too, just more our taste and colors in the After's. Mark is a photographer, so in another day or two he will get the official After shots so I can post them for everyone to see.

Wow! That is really beautiful! I like the color scheme, and the wall covering at the head of the beds really caught my eye.... I like the "Charlie Brown shirt" pattern!

Are you planning on replacing the canvas on the awning? I know that will be an expensive proposition, but it will look fantastic, I'm sure.... I'd have to save up my pennies.
