russedgar 1984 30R

Post by russedgar »

This new to us 30R is our second Avion.

I am in charge of systems and Lynne is in charge of flooring, cabinets, etc.

The link to our first Avion is http://edgarsheepandgoats.com/avion101.html

If you look at the pictures, you will see we make an Avion our own.

The new 30R has had all interior lights changed to LEDs.

I installed a 20,000 BTU Blue Flame heater for cold weather camping.

I ordered Sendel TO3 16 inch wheels for it tonight.

If our weather holds, I will install the solar system on HandyBobs site. If not, the install will be spring of 2017.

Best regards,

Russ

Hi, Russ. Glad to have you here!

That 34-XB sure looks nice. I like the way you personalized it.

I thought your town name sounded familiar! Looked at the map and saw where you are. As a kid, our family would travel from Tulsa, OK to visit relatives on dairy farms in western NY and/or go to the Kingston, NY area. Our route headed NE out of Columbus on I-71, and we would usually stay the night at the KOA at Mt. Gilead.

Still reading through your site. Very interesting!

Hey nralifer,

We are going to invite list members and others to camp over night or maybe longer here at the farm.

I am going to work on providing water. I set our septic up to dump to it with a macerater. If the guest/guests need electric, I can provide that.

We lamb and kid beginning the first of April if anyone is out that early in the season.

No children - We have lots of electric fence and Livestock Guard Dogs. Not comfortable for those who don't pay attention.

Email works best for me. I am hearing impaired.

Best regards,

Russ

Look at all that counter space. Nice trailer! Just curious, what's the loaded trailer weight (propane and water full)? Does the propane still mount on the tongue with that molded cover? Also, can you say more about the material and fasteners you used for the skirting?

Hey KYAvion,

We made the skirt. We looked at a lot of winter campers in Colorado, etc. We purchased a used German commercial sewing machine with a walking foot. I will post a link to the place we purchased the tarp material. We used DOT fasterners with stainless steel screws.

Lynne did the sewing and I did the DOTs. We used zippers where an opening was wanted/needed.

The skirt did work very well. I would make another if we were going to winter in the north. We still have the sewing machine.

In the bedroom picture of the 34XB, that is a pull out shelf for a TV. The shelf is factory.

Best regards,

Hey KYAvion,

http://tarps.mauritzon.net/viewitems/vi ... ed-fabrics

This is the fabric for the skirt.

The XB had two forty pound propane tanks the were horizontal that slid into the front of the Avion.

Looks like some burly material. Did you order direct from the manufacturer? I didn't see any pricing on their page.

Hey KYAvion,

Mauritzon is not the manufacturer.

I believe the tarping is made off shore.

It is very durable. I used some of the left over material to waterproof a gravity wagon holding 8,000 lbs of mixed feed. The feed has stayed dry and the material has only sun bleached a bit.
