Mt. Rushmore campground

Part of our epic journey this last summer included a stop to see Mt. Rushmore.
I think the first time I ever really "saw" Mt. Rushmore was in the Alfred Hitchcock movie, "North by Northwest" starring Cary Grant.
Ever since I have always wanted to see Mt. Rushmore in person. It was well worth the trip to see it!
We stayed at the Palmer Gulch KOA. As campgrounds go, it is more of a destination resort than just a campground. It is less than five miles from the entrance to the monument.
If we are ever back in that area we will definitely plan to camp there again.
