12v LED Fixtures

Post by KYAvion »

Any recommendations for silver/nickel 12v LED fixtures to replace the original 12v Jensen lights?

Go to https://www.etrailer.com/p-AR51267.html

This one dimmable.

There are others on the etrailer.com website as well.

Thanks. Dimmable would be nice. Just wish I could find something that is silver/nickel.

KY -

I agree that LED 12VDC lighting for an RV is rather Spartan. Most of the stuff etrailer sells is incandescent.

I recently completed a large led makeover project. Part of it included low voltage led lights embedded into a stair riser.

Low voltage lighting for residential use is either 12VDC or 24VDC; I installed 12VDC lighting. I installed a transformer to reduce the 110VAC to 12VDC.

Since most trailer lighting is 12VDC, I see no reason why low voltage residential lighting cannot be used; no transformer would be needed. 12VDC dimmer switches are also available.

Also, I think its possible to convert a 110VAC light socket into a 12VDC socket. This will widen our selection of lighting fixtures and reduce the fixture cost. I'll report out later.

Go to www.suoerbrightled.com for a choice of LED bulbs and matching socket types.

Good point about residential low voltage lights being used in a trailer. All the 4" can lights and cable lighting I've installed in our home is all low voltage. As you said, there'd be no reason for any of the transformers, so that saves quite a bit of space.

The color temp of these (3000k) is about right for my tastes, and a remote dimmer can be purchased for $3.00.

Yes it is. 3500K is tops for me.
