Re: Just bought a 1986 34V
I believe Ram 2500, which has rear coil springs, can be spec'ed with air suspension. I think it would be a good idea to do a test drive (possibly a long one, where they give you the truck overnight) to see if you find it comfortable. Also, Chevy/GMC have front independent suspension. I'm sure others...

Re: Just bought a 1986 34V
Congratulations! Avion is a wonderful trailer (The best ever in my unbiased opinion :D ) and 34V has a very desirable floor plan. You will love your trailer. Since you are doing a renovation first, you obviously have time to research tow vehicles. My 2 cents is that a half ton would be too light to ...

Reverse battery polarity. Help!
Hi, I was replacing the battery on my Avion and I attached the white wire to the positive on battery  Sensed a burning scent in the bathroom (where the electrical panel is) and figured I have messed up. Reversed the polarity but the 110V to 12V convertor light is off now. I read the manual for...

Re: Bellypan question
I would want to build some substantial ramps ( 6" or more high) before using the electric jack as a lifting mechanism. With that steep an angle, your wood blocks would not sit square to the frame. You want the bearing area of the wood blocks to be perpendicular to the frame. I would recommend ...

Re: Bellypan question
Thank you Silverloaf and Salty for your input. It seems this job is more involved that I initially imagined (I had a hunch, hence, my delay in starting it!). Since I do not want my trailer to be offline for too long due to bellypan repairs, I am thinking of a divide and conquer strategy. I will do t...

Re: Bellypan question
Thank you both Jason/Silverloaf, It seems the tank uninstall/re-install is its own major subtask. I've been avoiding the bellypan as I don't want my Avion to be offline due to repairs (I want to be able to use it). One thought is to hire a contractor to help me (this shortens the duration of the pro...

Bellypan question
I have been thinking about addressing the bellypan since I bought our Avion more than 5 years ago but have not gotten to it yet. I'd like to come up with a plan and wanted to run the steps by the members to make sure I am not missing anything. 1) Remove the stabilizer jacks 2) Remove the gas line --...

Re: 12 volt compressor refrigerators
I did a small residential fridge in my prior trailer and it actually worked out really well. I just left the ventilation door and vent on the roof in place to allow for airflow, and I sealed everything up around the front of the fridge. The access panel also allowed me to bolt the fridge down from ...
