Re: Removing stickers
Hi folks, I am trying to remove the Travelcade stickers and numbers from the shell (they were in really bad shape). I used a heat gun and a flexible putty knife and got the plastic off. But there is a residue left. I used acetone and it helped get the residue off, but it takes a LOT of effort. I wa...

Re: Roof Restoration
What an amazing job you did! Your hard work has definitely paid off. Is this clean up/seal for the life of trailer, or will you have to do it in several years? I should be done for my lifetime....if all goes according to plan! The entire top doesn't really need to be coated with a sealant. I sealed...

Re: Roof Restoration
They were just attached to prop the heat guns so I could scrape while they worked. Plus, my hand was falling asleep from holding them so long!!KYAvion wrote:Wow. Impressive job!
What was the purpose of the clamps on the heat guns?

My name is Becky and I have a serious case of aluminitus! I have had and rehabbed 5 aluminum trailers. All were going to be my last, but I keep finding a floor plan I like better! My little '64 Airstream Bambi II was a 2 1/2 year labor of love who will remain with me forever. But I have stepped over...

Re: Fiberglass in underbelly?
Yes, they used fiberglass around the tanks. I pulled it all out when I had my bellypan apart. Mice love it for nesting & I don't plan on using the tanks in winter.

Roof Restoration
I was in denial about the roof on my 1988 Avion 32S. I knew it was bad up there, but thought I could put it off a while longer.....until it started leaking in several places. It was coated with some kind of substance that was hard as a rock. Under it was silicone, followed by an Eternabond-style tap...

Re: A/C Gasket Replacement
Thanks! If you look closely, you'll see some nice, new eternabond on the seam that goes under the unit. I can't wait for a rain to see if I'm leak-free!KYAvion wrote:Looks great, Becky! I actually removed my A/C today as well, but I lifted mine so I could install eternabond tape along that main roof seam.

A/C Gasket Replacement
I changed out the gasket on my 1988 32S. Relatively simple procedure....remove interior plastic & metal cover from unit, along with the exterior cover. Remove 4 long bolts from interior. Unplug wire harness...the top should now be free! I propped my top of the unit on a heavy tupperware tub. Cle...
