Re: Tow vehicles

How have the Ecoboosts faired in terms of reliability? Say once they are approaching or past the 100,000 mile mark? That's an interesting question. It was a love-hate relationship among owners, particularly prior to 2017. Those that followed recommended maintenance gave them rave reviews. Those tha...

Re: Tow vehicles

That is really good. I am 9.5-10.8 with a 2017 6.2 F250, and ran 14-16 with a 2015 6.7 Cummins (stock) on the same camper. For reference with our 90’ 1500 suburban with 2WD and the same trailer got 10-12 towing. What’s the fuel mileage of the TV with same load at same speed otherwise? All else the ...

Re: Tow vehicles

Im really torn between another Max Tow F150, and a total overkill F250 diesel. What’s the weight difference between the adjusted-empty and loaded-for-camping (with passengers, max fuel and not hitched)? At or near about 50/50 FF/RR weight balance before hitching? What’s a better tow vehicle? My 20,...

Re: Tow vehicles

Thanks for the thorough explanation! I was just browsing some vehicles in FB marketplace and and some popped up. I really appreciate the insight about pre-2018 years! I've read many stories of people who have high mileage and no issues with the pre-2017 3.5LEB engines. I suspect these are original ...

Re: Propride 3p on a 30P???

You’ll be glad of every small pain taken. The Hensley-patent hitch is VERY obvious as I’m overtaking then passing a rig. The TT is motionless while underway. All the other hitch designs (obsolete) allow the trailer to continually oscillate. Always moving thru three axis. I don’t see them often. But ...

Re: Leveling made easy but not cheap.

Bubble level still easiest. One,Two boards or three under one side. Pressure treat 12” W. 8,’, 6, 4, with tapered ends. Or just use a bottle jack. Adjust FF/RR as desired with tongue jack. There’s no reason to make it perfect. I don’t even worry about “close”. About all that’s needed is to measure t...

Re: Polishing

The Silver Streak dealers used a mix of Acetone & Olive Oil (or ATF). Lasts until abeavy rain. Wash and re-apply. Goes fast. The goal isn’t the close inspection. It’s the general impression from a reasonable distance with 5005-Anodized. Differences per panel exist. And will. “Satin Glow” (not sh...

Re: Equalizers

Country-of-origin on those leafs? American-made 5160 (High Alloy) Spring Steel is the single acceptable replacement. There are no high-end travel trailers manufactured with leaf springs since the early 1990s. Ergo, no market for quality. EatonDetroit can maybe make some if an original shipped to the...

Re: Radial vs bias tires

Heat is what kills tires. From dead-cold overnight parked, it will take 1.5-hours at steady-state cruise for tire pressure to equalize . The trailer rides on air not rubber. The rubber is a case. It has to expand to the degree which the pressurized air inside of it stops expanding. Too little air, ...
